I know lipgloss is all the rage, but I really like to play around with nice lipstick and lipstains. I like checking out product reviews at makeupalley.com before I waste money on makeup. Ditto about Makeup alley! I don't like to be unpleasantly surprised by awful makeup. I like to see a few reviews before committing to something that might make me break out or just be generally crappy.

personally I think the hell with makeup for the most part (except for some events..I give in)...I get eye infections with some kinds of eye wear, and my lips are too big for obvious lipsticks...so I usually go w/o....I feel alot more comfortable....btw I like to see women's faces...there are some gorgeous women out there that cover up way too often rather then enhancing their beauty...

When I tried to experiment with make-up for the first time that's just 7months ago. And it mostly didn't look good I thought I wasn't good at it. But it seems I just look beter natural, (my new haircut says it) the only thing I need to look ok is a decent haircut or if I had a long game session using a bit coverstick under my eyes. Or a little bit of foundation but I don't need much. I only use a bit of foundation/ cover stick every two weeks or something. Then again I'm very young but a lot of young girls wear lots of make-up especially eyeliner. I'm fine the way I am.

Is this the new girlie thread?? I bought a few suits the other day - all neutral but one of them red. I also bought a new eyeshadow brush but am having issues committing to a suitable quad. Any suggestions for an eyeshadow quad that goes well with a dark red outfit?

I think it's good to do whatever makes you feel comfy and fabulous--makeup optional. @celtriya -- I think that some shimmery neutrals would look really nice with a rich red outfit. I like a few of the Clinique quads.

Oh man you are so right. Thanks, I will check out clinique. I love shimmery neutrals. Deathly terrified of 'smokey eye'. I end up just looking smoked.

You can always do a smokey eye in other colours aside from black/grey. It creates a softer look. www.temptalia.com/category/looks/smokeyMind you, I'm more of a fan of shimmery + red or coral lipstick. Or I just throw on sunglasses/glasses and wear lipstick or pigmented lipgloss.

@ Kyu-ree - That is so pretty! I love greens to be honest...and they look really good smoked out in the crease with gold in the centre.
@ Celtriya - Ahhh. I see! I think the shimmery powder is a nice accenting touch. I got a few of the L'oreal loose pigmented powders (in gold and peach)...they're really lovely.

I blame this forum for my sudden addiction to MAC cosmetics. I didn't have any until a week ago. Now I have 4 MAC eyeshadows and a lipglass. Must get more... MORE...!!!
Yeah, I got my first green eyeshadow today after purchasing it online - 6th Sin from MAC's Metal X collection. It's awesome, even my mom liked the colour on me.

Since this seems to be the new beauty thread.
Anyone ever get eyelash extensions? I'm a bit wary about someone playing around so close to my eyes.

It's the rage over here.. lots of chinese girls are doing it. My frd has had several types done, one that is a few extra long lashes placed along the lash line, that was very pretty but noticeable that they were fake lashes. The second type she had done was a thickening effect, where they 'bulk' up the lash line with similar length lashes. It looks really good and more natural. It saves on mascara and lasts about 3 weeks.
I was at the salon for a facial and had to share a room with a woman who was getting it done, it doesnt look scary, they use tweezers to place them on the lash line, so it is less pokey/fiddly and more placement. tho i'm not sure how safe the glue they use is!

i love the idea of lash extensions, but to me the length of time they last doesn't justify the cost unless i had that kind of money to throw around (cheapest i've seen them here is about $100 US,and like Helles said, they last only around 3 weeks.) i can buy hundreds of sets of false eyelashes that i apply myself for that price, and i can generally make a $4 set of falsies last for 3 days, longer if i buy the kind that are small clusters of lashes as opposed to full stirps (more per package.) if i were to wear falsies every day for a month,at the absolute most i'd spend $50 US per month.saving $50 a month by applying them myself is more than worth it to me,especially since i don't wear them all that often and if applied well the look is comparable.
what i'm really curious about is eyelash transplants, where they transplant hair (i think from your head,i know very little about this) to your lash line.you have to trim it,but to me that'd really be worth it if i ever had more money than i knew what to do with. on the plus side,i saw a photo of someone on this site (i think it might have been jenniferbrook, sorry if i'm wrong) who had the extensions, and they are very, very pretty.

^ Jun, come to HK!! my friend says it costs her HK$200 (USD25ish) for each session. hehe just ignore the cost of getting to HK I'm considering eyelash perming.. tho I am scared about putting chemicals so close to my eyes. I'm ok with my eyelash length and amount, my issue is keeping them curled, I think cos they are quite long, it affects the effectiveness of holding the curl.
