onto another topic... not sure where I could post this.. but I have a lil problem, actualy not me.. but my little sister.. she's 13 and really really stressed out.. she has acne and she's very depressed and lacks self-confidence.. she tries to hide her face behind her hair but it only gets worse.. my parents have tried taking her to the doctors and they've prescribed her endless medications, they work for a day, and return even worse than before.. right now she's crying and everybody is trying to cheer her up cuz she has an oral presentation tomorrow at school and her face is bright red with them.. I feel so bad.. because I've never gone through what she has... I have freckles but never had pimples.
So, I was wondering if anyone went through this and knows what she can do to tame those nasty pimples?
Thanks in advance, ladies~

oh, i'm sorry to hear that about your sister, its got to be tough especially at her age. i've never had to go through acne, but a guy from my HS had it real bad, He went to the doctors and got some medication - im not sure what it was (Sorry), but it totally dried out his skin for about 2 weeks, and then his skin was perfect, no scars or anything.
How about tea tree oil or witch hazel.. they're supposed to be quite good,

Has she ever used those multi-step topical treatments like Pro-Activ or whatever that's called? These days I just try to eat healthy, drink lots of water, in addition to using Clearasil daily face wash, that skin toner you apply with a cotton ball, then an oil free lotion so it doesn't get dried out; Once at night, once in the morning, and maybe once during the day if feeling greasy. It works for me as long as I'm consistent. No I'm not a metrosexual, my face is just problematic sometimes.

spectrojel is a really good antibacterial soap that is very gentle on sensitive skin. not sure how effective it is for acne, though. your poor sister

That's horrible for your sister. I never really went through acne in my teens, just had a couple little ones once in awhile. But I did know this one girl who had really bad acne. She wore a lot of make up, which mostly covered it but under the make up you could tell she had an acne problem. Once when I was in the girls room with her at school, I realize I forgot to bring foundation with me (I don't use it often anymore but back then I was addicted) and I asked to borrow hers because she had hers out. When I put the stuff on a blemish that was showing it completely disappeared. I don't know what that stuff was called, but if you get special make up that might help. It won't make it go away but it'll make it less noticeable and cover up the red. I don't know the brand of it though, it wasn't a normal brand. You probably have to ask a dermatologist.

what kind of shampoo and conditioner are you using? i actually find it hard to pick what type of shampoo and conditioner to buy.. i cant decide if my hair needs 'for coloured, chemically damaged hair', 'greasy' or 'dry'.. hehe.. i need something for 'greasy roots and dry ends'.. but i havent seen any in the shops yet! also, i put so much gunk in my hair after i shampoo - straigtening balm, frizz stuff.. but i dunno if they actually work, or im using the wrong products, cos if i dont use them, my hair is almost exactly the same.. i like pantene pro-v. the conditioner is sooo good. otherwise i like aveda and bumble and bumble when i can afford them. still looking for good cheap shampoo and conditioner. i used to like fructis but i think it dries out my scalp

someone told me pantene was really bad.. like it was composed with the same stuff plastic was made of or sth.......... hmm.. that doesnt sound right.. lol! i used the pantene winter protection type last winter and it made my hair feel crap, but it does smell nice!
i'm using l'oreal elvive for uncontrollable hair. thats pretty good. but im trying to mix up my brands otherwise if your hair gets used to one brand, the effects wont be as good.. or so i'm told!

I switch brands a lot, too. It's true about hair getting used to a brand. I don't know how that happens but if I use one shampoo too long my hair doesn't really feel clean afterwards, so I have to mix it up.

yeah, i like to change my shampoo up.
pantene contains silicone. it can cause buildup, but as long as you use a clarifying shampoo it should be ok. it doesn't like get into your hair and make it stronger, it just puts a coating overtop.
