I'm probably not...but sometimes I question that. Sometimes I can get angry to the point of violence, and that feeling washes over me where I can't even think, I'm just fuming so hard I'm physically shaking and all I want to do is scream and beat the crap out of whoever it is that's angering me. And then there's that moment where maybe for a second you think, or not really even think, but just picture a knife in your head. Only there's a thread of self-restraint that always still exists that keeps that a picture in my head instead of something I actually do. I wonder if it's possible that someday that thread of self-restraint will snap...or if it's a permanent fixture and there's no way it would snap. Because that would suck if it snapped.

I'm capable of royally beating the crap out of someone, but I am merciful enough to leave that person alive.

The other follow-up question is: Will you consider murdering someone if there is 100% certainty that you won't get caught?
I believe that a survey was done along these lines, and an astonishing portion of people said "yes". I just don't remember the exact figures, but I think it was at least 1/3.

Does the name "Ragnar Redbeard" mean anything to you? How about the phrase "that which is rotten does not belong to us"? Have you heard these anywhere before?

Isn't murder considered a "crime of passion" which most people don't premeditate....they do it on the spur of the moment?

No.
First, I'm a wimp. Second, I'd have too much guilt onto myself, even if I don't get caught.
I don't care how much this person needs to die, I don't think I should be the one judging whether or not he/she should die and therefore, I shouldn't be the one taking his/her life away.

Isn't murder considered a "crime of passion" which most people don't premeditate....they do it on the spur of the moment? murder • noun 1 the unlawful premeditated killing of one person by another. At any rate, the way I understood the OP's post is whether you think you could have that violence/rage that would push you to kill, premeditated or not. Personally, I'm never angry, at worst, I get annoyed. So, no, I don't think I would be capable of killing someone.

yeah i didn't really answer the question, i was just on a tangent of thought, an interesting point of trivia. The dictionary def belies the reality. If you are sent to prison for murder you get little rehabilitation because reoffending rates are low.....hence the crime of passion, spur of the moment tag. Contrast that with say, peodophiles who have high rates of reoffending and get large resources devoted to rehabilitation. Like i said, a tangent.
Can i murder? I get angry enough to slam a door a couple of times a year, so i'm pretty mild. I still think I'd be foolish to think I couldn't murder someone. You only need to have a look at what very average German & Japanese people got up to during WWII to see that most people are very capable of murder given the right circumstances.
