Dear MLJones7581, Altho I am from LaJolla, CA (now in school in Toronto,ON Canada) I experienced the same problem. I look as asian as you do (meaning could mixed or just "exotic" looking, some people know some are SO surprised) whereas my sis looks like she was shipped special delivery via Saigon Express( minus her sandy brown hair). I dunno i get MEXICAN alot 2. In canada everyone thinks Italian or portuguese b/c of the whole olive skin dark hair....Sadly enough my mum is extremely fair skinned and meditereanean BUT people also seem to think she's mexican altho she is VERY VERY french. i think it's a cali thing. -rain

fairly recently, i discovered my passion for deaf culture, but that's a culture unrelated to ethnicity. www.aslinfo.com/deafculture.cfmjust to give a background story, i started working with deaf/hard-of-hearing people back in highschool and was a pretty decent signer. after years of not practicing it, my signing skills have become rusty, but i still know some. but i suppose my interactions with some deaf co-workers relatively recently have rekindled my interest in ASL and in deaf culture. i have become good friends with one of them in particular, and i will definitely miss her when i quit working at this place(i've already given my 2-weeks notice). she was kinda sad when i told her i'd be leaving there soon(she signed "i will miss you when you go"), as i was one of the very few people there who conversed with her. she is such a sweet, cool, and entertaining person to talk to, but being that she's deaf and most hearing people don't sign, there's that language barrier between her and everyone else. so she took very warmly to me when she learned i was a hearing signer, which i guess was beneficial on both ends since i had someone with whom i could practice signing. she and a number of other deaf people i've come across have so much character. and i think it's kinda sad when such character is often overlooked by the general hearing population. i hope to make ASL a regular part of my life, by re-honing my signing skills and getting ASL-certified, then becoming perhaps a sign language interpreter as a sidejob to nursing(heck, with maybe those two careers overlapping somewhere along the way). my main goal in all this is to bridge the gap between deaf and hearing people.

Yep Yep.... I've fallen in love with the italian culture...
“Italia”: questa parola suggerisce un rapporto armonico fra corpo, spirito e anima.
“Italia”, a word which conjures up a harmonious bond between body, spirit and soul.
100% spot on
If anyone ever goes in an Italian household... Don't forget to not have anything beforehand and enter with an Empty stomach.... The food never stops coming... once dishes finish more are served out.... It soo funny how my Mrs. Pop just sits in his chair and does nothing but drinks Grapa (Home made alcohol-close to 100%) and makes me drink it with him-- its the hardest thing to swallow cos it completely burns your throat and it smell like liquorice don't know how the guy keeps doin it.... her mum and grandma does all the cooking and its perfection.... I spend hrs in the kitchen with them to help and learn how to authentically cook the meals... Everything has either tomatoes or Cheese... or both lolz Cos it is offensive to enter an Italian home and refuse food when offered on the dinner table.........
Take your shoes off when you come in---Similar asian trait
Such a classy and warm family oriented Culture........ I love it---ohhh A lot of Ferarri and Valentino Rossi posters up in her brother's room lolz
And they love Soccer---the only Sport worthy to be called football..
Love Hunting with her old man and her brothers for Wild pigs in the country... the only time I get to shoot something Woo Hoo!!!!--------> The Wild pig is not for consumption just a sport <-- infested with deadly bacteria
The more time i spend integrating with the italian culture the more i see a resemblance between asian culture and the italian... they hold alot of the same values

I like chinese food because it is very tasty and provides a balanced diet.
I like the chinese script because it is artistic and beautiful. It's like a link from the old world to the new.

YES! yes! ;D Chinese Food is fantastic, i like the szechuan dishes. I hope When China keeps on developing - i hope it produces its own unique style of architecture and culture for the contemporary - something like out of the Final Fantasy games. Not just Western skyscrapers, clothes, or anything American... Bring me the ASIANS!

In my experience, if you live in Orange County, CA, and you are 1/2 Asian 1/2 White, people assume that you're MEXICAN and start speaking Spanish to you!!! Yeah, happens to me alot in OC. Whenever I stand in line at the Swiss Matterhorn ride, this lady keeps yapping "Cermane Ser Centavos Por Favor". And then this dude wheels his cart by and insists that I buy some Churros. Do I have "mexican" tatooed on my forehead peoplez?!
