I have a new found respect for sculptors after trying myself to attempt to chip away at a hunk of marble and travertine. Had the opportunity to see alot of Bernini's work in person-- absolutely amazing. Pictures don't really ever do them justice as you have to walk all the way around to get a real idea. But I'm pretty sure this one of Apollo and Daphne was made from ONE block of marble. Incredible. And for whatever reason, I've always liked Degas' dancer series:

I saw Cupid and Psyche and figured I'd post some photos I took last fall at the Met. By posting my pics I dont mean to infer they're art. They're cheap photos of statues to hang on my wall. If anyone is related to the guy on the right, tell him I stole his soul.

I like Frieda Kahlo too, it's almost as though you can feel her frustration in her paintings. Anyway, I don't know anything about art..oh well.. + Kev, i LOVE your Eiffel Tower/cloudy photo

I appreciate the work of Miguel Rio Branco. Gritty, uncompromisingly so. I also like the mainstreams: Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton, Nick Knight the old skoolers: Irving Penn, David bailey, Richard avedon, Cecil Beaton, Man Ray the geographers: Steve McCurry, Li Xiaov Ming

i agree with the earlier posts that Frida Kahlo's art is psychotic. To bad, she had the talent to paint but she didn't have the right messages to convey in her work. How about another Latino painter, Ferdinand Botero. His works are cool... check out his version of Mona Lisa
