There's a snack over here that is basically packaged like instant noodles but made to be eaten raw or like crisps/chip snacks. They are quite nice.

I was going to say that but I've forgotten the name You also mix it with powder stuff too so it's really like eating uncooked instant noodles

Yup. Sodium, too, but i believe the MSG's effect is much stronger. And yes, i believe "ajinomoto" is the major japanese brand of MSG.
not everyone is affected by it, and some in different ways than others, but I know that after a meal with a lot of MSG that I'm dying for a cool drink of juice/water/whatever.

My dad's head would always get itchy. That's how we'd know if something we ate had a lot of MSG.

MSG is to food what nicotine is to cigarettes. My mum used to make us eat the noodles without the flavourings when we were younger cause my skin was hypersensitive to E numbers (where’s the fun in that?!) Still from time to time when you're knackered after a days work and can't be bothered to cook a proper meal, a pack of noodles is the best creation ever...

Just make the stock for the noodles yourself and add your own condiments... it's not that hard. You get a much better tasting result, plus you have more of an idea of what's going into it.

I'm partial to Mama brand ramen, in particular the Pa-lo and Tom Yum flavours.

My current fav: Mee Goreng by Indo Mee - fried noodles it says on the packaging but they're still instant noodles. comes with 3 sauces (fried garlic oil, soy sauce?, and some reddish paste) and 2 seasoning salts. add 1 fried egg.

^Yum thats so good, I just finished a packet of instant mee goreng. Its so addictive, especially with lime juice over the noodles. Not as good as in the Hawker though, where its only $2 a plate anyway. But the instant variety is for when i'm too lazy to walk to orchard towers food court haha.
