*ahem* .... since this is an instant noodle thread and my question is about ready cooked food , i ll ask it here .... so here s the deal : i didn t manage to make Katong laksa myself, but only indian/malaysian tasting laksa... so i bought Yeo s laksa paste ...since it s a Sporean brand i figured the laksa you should be able to make w/ it should taste like Katong laksa... but how on earth do i use this paste do i add boiling water and rice noodles to it ? do i add coconut milk ? how do i use this supposedly ready-made-makes-my-life-easier paste ? anyone ?

Yeos....thats the same one we've used. I always see my parents adding coconut milk to it still...but I'll ask my Nana for you.

^may I ask what in the world is laksa?
edit: before some tells me to google it, I would just like to say if I had enough initiative to do that I wouldn't be asking here...

laksa is a yummy dish ! it s kinda like a soup w/ noodles in it...katong laksa is considered one of Spore s traditional dishes...there are several types of laska...i guess the katong laksa is more nourishing and thicker in the soup base...also it requires cockles instead of chicken i think...but i dont use either ingredients.... and the rice noodles are thicker and cut up into small pieces... basically it s a curry/coconut/lemongrass soup w/ noodles in it ! yum !

Has anyone ever been served noodles that turned out to be instant noodles in a restuarant? I have once before in a Japanese restuarant a few years ago, my taste buds knew straightaway that it was instant noodles!

i havent had instant noodles for ages.. i could do with instant noodles, fried egg and hot dogs.. mmm
what i really dont like is in some cafe's in hk, instead of cooking the noodles, they just add boiling water to it and let is soak (like what you do with a pot noodle), it just doesnt taste right and the noodles are a weird texture after too.

Right now i'm eating Myojo instant bowl noodles - which is thai? - well, anyway its the curry chicken variety. Its not bad, it already comes in a nice large round polystyrene bowl. Its hard to taste much curry beyond the spice, but I can vaguely make out all the usual spices, curry powder. My lips are burning . Its not that bad, i think i put to much water in it though.

Only instant noodle connoisseurs like myself appreciate that style of preparation - the layperson assumes wrongly that it has been undercooked.
