I used to be on Crafters.org and have been told to sell my stuff on Etsy but it's hard for me to just sit there and do it. I have been really busy making a bunch of stuff, just bought loads of fabric from my trip to Kanazawa, Japan and have been sewing like mad I will have to take some pics soon and share My next project is this ;D to cute

ok i just wanted to give yall a laugh...this post will be image heavy, i apologize. (i also can't figure out how to resize them to be any smaller! I tried making them teeny and it didn't work, so I doubly apologize for my incompetence!) so i got my very first ipod for christmas, and being sick at home with bronchitis, as well as being the doting mother that i am, i decided to make it a cozy! little did i know, sewing machines are much more difficult to manipulate than i'd initially imagined. so first i broke the needle, and so my mom had to come sort me out. after that i somehow pushed the entire sewing machine onto the ground and broke some plastic, but i just taped that back on, and i'll tell her tomorrow morning when she's in a better mood. but here are pictures: attempt number one: the ipod cozy from hell. attempt number two: the ipod cozy that ate manhattan. it's HUGE. attempt number three: the ipod cozy that would have been cute if the embroidery part was right-side-out, the corner wasn't wrinkly, and it didn't rival the size of the ipod cozy that ate manhattan. attempt number four:picture is unremarkable but basically i sewed the wrong side out again so that all the stitches were visible, plus i used white thread on black felt, and it was still too big attempt number five: a relative success! i was so overjoyed with it that i tried to do some embroidery with my sewing machine. but mostly it did not work.

props,Joy,they got better each time!i'm a really, really crappy seamstress.i belong to a t-shirt reconstruction group on livejournal and constantly stare in awe at all the cool things members post that i could never do in a million years.yet somehow i can embroider and love to.but cutting out patterns and measuring fabric and all that jazz...bleh,it just ends badly.but your ipod cover was cute,it had homemade charm. ;D i have a new sewing project soon to be in the works:i wanted a faux fur collar for christmas, but my MIL couldn't find any,so she got some material and is going to teach me how to sew one.wish me luck.

^Hapwalnutcrakeronthepeanutcase: I teach fine arts at a Uni so I have access to their metal works studio I make my own molds. As for the stain glass it's really not that hard, you just need a tool to score the glass with and these plastic covered pliers to break it then you smooth the edges with fine sand paper or a high pressure water machine if you have access to one. The metal part can be bought at any stained glass store or even hardware store sometimes, it's very light and flexible and you just fit it in, hard to explain without being able to draw it out. You then just solder the edges together. Then you add this sticky puddy stuff to push in the edges to waterproof it. That is one way to it and another is using a copper wire tape, taping the edge of each piece of the class and then you solder it all together. Oh and the putty stuff makes the metal look darker not black but darken. Oh and I made the necklace at home ;D

Everyone's so talented! love the ipod covers, Joy. it's great to see the progression from your first attempt to the final product. i think i would have about the same success rate. And for some reason I think it would be hilarious for you to make tampon pouches for your friends. But maybe I'm just weird. LadyStacy and Marie: you two are so multi-talented!! Marie - I love the walnut. You could make some funky walnut ornaments. LadyStacy: I love that necklace, it's gorgeous! My mom does stained glass with her friend who teaches classes. I should really learn how to do it, they make such great presents.
