I don't understand how people's mouths can handle very hot temperatures (not spicy stuff, I mean high temperatures). I see people drinking tea right after it's been made, but me...I have to wait an hour for it to cool down! If I drink it when it's hot, it burns my tongue, but other people can drink it easily! The same thing with food. When the waiter brings the soup, people can start eating it right away. But I have to wait for it to become cold because it burns my tongue!! why do I get the feelings I created a similar thread already? *lol* nevermind... hehehe ;D This thread is too specific, so maybe not

My mom likes it HOT! She can eat a pepper no issues wasabi no issues. I like some spicy foods but nothing to strong, hot bevs like teas etc are nice to but no saunas I don't like the feeling of sweating and bloating. I really shouldn't eat so many hot stuff because I have a senstive tummy but I rather suffer belly pains then eat plain boring foods.

I think eating lots of spicy food is the sign of an immature palate. It's like kids who eat nothing but really sweet things - their brain interprets the extremity of the taste as a positive feeling. After a while, spicy food just tastes like spice, or chilli which surely has to dull the tastebuds if you eat enough of it; or similiarly, "regular" food tastes bland to you because you expect a lot of spice.
I think there is more to be said for great-tasting food that has hardly any chilli or spicyness to it. Not to say I don't like chilli, but I think people who eat nothing but chilli-infused foods are ruining a world of gastronomy for themselves.

^ Same, I like chilli but it doesn't seem to like me back.
As for hot drink, I don't drink them too hot (not boiling)

I'm not (generally) a masochist. So, no - I don't particularly want to scald my mouth whilst drinking or eating something. If it's going to burn flesh going down, common sense and the survival instinct is going to tell me to blow on it delicately, stir it and wait till it cools down a bit.
This is the weird thing I found about Korea - not only was the food god-AWFUL coated with too much pepper, but they also served it boiling hot and expected you to eat it like that. This induced tears twice over: firstly because the pepper was too much for my palate, and secondly because in an attempt to be like the locals I was scorching my internal organs. Never again.
I'm a fan of Thai food - but there's got to be some sort of balance in the meal. Slaughtering everything with pepper seems like an easy way out to me.
Oh wasabi is a big no-no for me as well. I don't particularly enjoy that feeling of something crawling up my nose and emitting radiation.

I am not so much of a spicy person but I'd yet Shin ramen, which is pretty spicy to my standards. I've eaten enough to numb my tastebuds that it doesn't hurt me like how it used to anymore. Eating spicy foods gives me ear ache, and runny nose, it sucks! Otherwise, I like hot tea, hot soup, hot shower...etc.

When it comes to spicyness and food tempture, I like my food very, very hot and spicy, though whenever I eat spicy food, I ended up with an Asian flush look and runny nose. But I think its worth it in the end ;D

I love spicy food. And salty food. I'm not much of a sweets person. As far as temperature goes, I don't particularly like things to be really hot. But I'm a rather impatient person that doesn't like to have long, luxurious meals. When it's put in front of me I don't wait for it to cool down, because the longer I take for eating it the longer I have to be sitting there...eating...I'd rather be doing something else.

I'm not that great with spicy food. I can take tom yam and certain spicy food but for all you people who like spicy food - you will probably eat something I consider spicy and it will taste mild spicy to you. But, I like spicy food I just wish I could stand it more than I do.
As for hot - I don't like burning my tongue. I'm one of those people who waits until it cools down a little. I don't see the point of being reminded I have a tongue all day. It's annoying

No, this is not a relationships thread and I know my poll kind of sucks I heard many (E-?)Asians like to eat and drink very hot (temperature-wise) which gives Japanese and Koreans the highest gullet cancer rates in the world. I also drink my hot beverages very hot... Oh and I love sauna-like baths!... Also hot & spicy food is great ;D What do you say? Very hot or mildly hot only? Or not hot at all? (why do I get the feelings I created a similar thread already? *lol* nevermind... ah whatever meh) kind of off subject here, but if temperature can create cancerous conditions it makes me wonder how much skin cancer is caused by the UV rays and how much is simply from the excessive baking the skin takes.

food : i can take very spicy food, and actually like it ! but it doesn t mean i need chilli everywhere... i still can appreciate more refined/blender *can t quite find the right word* food....
temperature : i LOVE it either VERY hot or VERY cold... i was used to drinking EXTREMELY hot green tea so i can t take anything that s lukewarm now....may it be food or hot drinks.... i can actually feel a slight burn in my trachea as i sip my tea.... i barely wait for the water to cool down after it s been boiling before i drink.... same for food... and weather actually ....either very hot or cold...

i can actually feel a slight burn in my trachea as i sip my tea.... yikes! That can't be good... I can eat really spicy foods too, mostly from my upbringing. But unlike my father I don't need to have really spicy food all the time. I can enjoy both types. But as for as drinks I don't like it too hot....just not used to it. I love really cold drinks.....but obviously some drinks just don't work that way so when the situation calls for it I'll take warm (mildly hot) over hot. EDIT. oh and for temperature for food....I like it warm to hot....not a big fan of cold food.
