The World of Suzie Wong - Richard Mason finished it, thought it was really good. there was bits in it about 'dirty, contemptuous Eurasians' and how they are floating inbetween.. now reading Golden Handcuffs. about entry level fresh grads trying to make it in the 'city' and banking world.

My mom sent me a new freshly signed copy of Chuck Palahniuk's "Rant" to me. *beams* Currently that is my reading pleasure. *SIGNED* ? pleasure? more like treasure. I'd probably go buy another one to avoid messing up the signed copy. envy.

Heh, actually, Jeremy - ALL my Chuck books are signed. Obsessive? Maybe. It's kind of just become a habit. The only one I had signed personally (and when I say personally I mean my mom waited on line for me because I had to go -- the line was MONSTROUS-- as I had a midterm the next day ) was Lullaby. His readings and Sedaris readings always fill up Barnes and Noble.

right now, listening to "The Google Story" by David A. Vise and Mark Malseed.
The story of Google's origins and rise. It's quite an interesting story, but it's written in a way that sort of overly exalts them Not that they don't deserve it, i guess. It's kind of a turnoff sometimes, though.

It's the what book are you READING right now. Get outa here. I'm still relatively new to the whole books in mp3 format. Just out of curiosity - when you listen to them? At work? On the commute? I find I can't listen to books like I listen to music. But at the same time I can't listen to books like I read books. If that makes any sense at all.

But at the same time I can't listen to books like I read books. If that makes any sense at all. Mostly while walking. When I'm walking hours a day, books go by FAST. Commutes are good. biking or driving or riding the bus. the more you do it, the more you become familiar with when it works, when it doesn't. Like when you need to be paying more attention to things like navigating your path, sometimes you'll miss a bit of a book. But if it's short enough, you can sort of scan backward into your memory for what you missed, even if you weren't paying full attention. Basically, anything that needs consciousness and active processing like interacting, reading, typing, etc. won't work. Washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning the house - that kind of stuff works okay for me though.

I'm currently going through a phase of reading David Mitchell novels. I'm about half way through reading Ghostwritten and Number9Dream. Awesome to see some Murakami fans though. Hard to find anyone I know here that actually know any of his novels. Number9Dream!! I got that novel, too! Isn't he EA ? (or something...) Haven't finished it yet. I'm reading Kafka at the Shore still... but I'm sort of busy Is that number9dream about a guy in tokyo who has all these issues with finding his father, and is like a genius ( who falls inlove with some crazy girl) or something- I think I read it once before?

I'm currently reading the Quantity Theory of Insanity by Will Self. Despite what the reviews say I'm not finding it very funny and I'm up to the third story. The only part that had me laugh out loud was the sex scene where the woman squeaks. Fantasy/sci-fi isn't really my thing but I'm inspired to read Dune since I came across this picture:

I just finished Twilight. YA fiction with vampires. I'm not totally eager to finish the rest of the serious though. Not Anne Rice enough for meeeee.
