honeyviper, zoff: if you dig Vampire books. I would recommend "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova. This book explores the Legend of Dracula in an educational way and at the same time makes the hairs at the back of your neck stand.

have you guys ever read "fevre dream" by George R.R. Martin? (for you vampire book readers) I haven't read this, but having read a Song of Ice and Fire by George I think he's an excellent author and will definitely check this one out. I've read SOIAF, too, and really enjoyed it, which was why i read Fevre Dream. I was impressed by it, but I'm not a huge vampire book aficionado, so I didn't know if was considered good by those more into the genre than I am.

Just finished reading The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith, the first of a series. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next one (will have to buy it for my mom, since she lent it to me).

the historian by elizabeth kostova. it's long and painful. do not read it unless you cant get enough of "erudite" dracula themes and repetition...on a grand scale.

Freakonomics. Really interesting views on controversial stuff. Great book, but very obviously biased. If it weren't for that element, however, I don't suppose it would have had as much success. Currently flipping the pages of Foucault's History of Sexuality.
