This is fairly common dude. Chicks think nothing of giivng out their numbers causing much grief on the guy's part when she either wont pick up the phone or conveniently happens to be "out" all the time. Girls are simply like that as they dont have the balls to confront and NOT give a phone number if they dont want to. Theyd rather weasel out of it.
Known in common parlance as a prick tease.
However, Im sure she wouldnt have given out her number if you were some freak so theres every chance she would meet up with you again.
Plus shes Canadian and for some insane reason all Canadians are super friendly and overly happy about life and less cynical. Goes for the women as well.

I don't know if this is the case with everyone, but I'll usually give out my number to anyone I feel connected with and definitely someone I could see myself talking to again.
Also, another thing I learned from my friends.. don't wait too long to call that person back again. Usually give it no more than a couple days because they'll interpret this as you not being genuinely interested.

The key is to ask for enough numbers to the point where you are bound to have a few that are interested.
So even if you suck, you ask for 20, and only 1 is interested, you've scored. I remember this one girl gave me a number and I called back a week later and she forgot who I was, hahaha.

This question is more directed towards ladies. If a guy you've just met asks for your phone number, how do you regard this? Is it automatically assumed that the guy is interested in you, until proven otherwise? I automatically assume a guy is interested, and so do all my girlfriends. I consider a guy asking for a girl's number a pretty straight-forward thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a guy isn't interested in making a new friend when he asks a girl's number, right? So imo, most girls will think a guy is interested if he asks for digits. Now, if a girl gives her number because she feels the same way or simply because she doesn't have the guts to turn him down on the spot is another story. |

generally i think in that type of situation exchanging e-mail addresses/IM info is more casual and puts less pressure on both people.

generally i think in that type of situation exchanging e-mail addresses/IM info is more casual and puts less pressure on both people. yeah, that or messaging through FB. no awkward phone silences. but in the original post, floyd mentions about being on a new course at uni.. i think at the start of uni, everyone is more open to making new frds, so its quite normal to exchange numbers with new ppl.. only problem is that its so casual you dont actually remember who you have given your number to! i don't think its that big a deal, unless your only intention is do go after a date rather than make friends and see how it could progress. If she's on your course, you are bound to see her again and take it from there. |

My new goal is to get a new number every day. As you pointed out, the law of probability will win out in the end. Its a cliché to go for the mass marketing approach. I used to be a fan of it until I read The Game. Targeted approaches with strategies are far more successful. Much like poker. In fact you should be able to apply the lessons you are learning in poker to this very topic. |

Reminds me, when Jak gave me her number and she left, I mispressed on my piece of shiet phone and hit CANCEL instead of SAVE NEW CONTACT.... whoops... Word of advice if your seeking someones number. Enter it in your phone and give them a prank call before they leave.  |
