Here is the half Japanese-Canadian bubby girl I had to look after for 10 mins while in countryside Japan I was playing around with her and said "your eyes are pretty" in japanese to her then she bursted into tears. Plus she tried to suck the camera and I had to pull it away from preventing my camera dying an un-waterproof death. So then she cried more and I couldnt find any toys for her. I am no good with babies, even halfies like me-babies.

July, not that long to go She's Swedish Chinese, I'm Mongol Ruskie. So our daughter is going to be wearing a viking helmet with a red-star on it, swinging a battle-ax while doing kung-fu on horseback - so people tell me. That scares me, I don't know if I would be able to interpret what she means if she cries. Is it true however that you'll naturally grow some empathy as a parent for your own child?

oh my gosh, your daughter is SO adorable. i seriously would pinch the hell out of those cheeks, forgive me. No need to think so bluegum (btw: nice nickname, really ^^) - I used to hate kids (now I know why: because I was the eldest of 3 siblings and I hated them a lot because I felt very bothered by their noise) and never wanted one, untill I got together with my husband in the end of 2007, till I wass 37 - and its the best thing that have happend to me to have my Daughter ^^

honestly, i find smiling and just being able to relate to them in someway..whether it be discussing cartoons or whatever the kid is into really works. the kids i've met stick to me like glue... my sister says i talk to them too much and am too friendly? they don't really seem to like her because she doesn't even bother with em. haha.

Its so close now, I can almost feel her, touch her, hear her, inside my wife's belly. I've even developed a strange new language I don't even know the meaning of.
I'm so young, this is so incredible. I just wish in two months time and then forth I'll be able to provide her with a good father figure.

i was at a friend's baby twins 1 year birthday party on saturday. and mostly hung out with my other friends baby (indian/swiss)... we were playing on the grass and what not and apparently, she could pass as mine as i had 2 other mummies at the party (whom i didnt know) asking me questions about her like she was mine!

Yea its weird, kids are strangely drawn to me.. They always stare at me on trains and buses for really long periods of time, like their fascinated by my face or something. They'll look briefly at other people but they'll always come back to me and stare.. Maybe its because i stare back? Maybe its because i have a baby-face and they think that their looking at another baby? Who knows.. Well, I don't know what you look like, but I've read in some child psychology article that children, especially babies, like faces that are in clear contrast with features. For example, dark hair and eyes with pale skin, or light hair hair and eyes with dark skin. I guess they can recognize the eyes faster. So if you're a pale Eurasian with dark hair like me, perhaps this is a small theory behind their attraction to you. I really only like the pre-school and kindergarten age (4-6 y/o). Anything younger is too needy (I don't wipe asses, sorry), and anything older just isn't cute anymore (physically and socially). But don't shake your head at me, guys. I'm picky with adults too. I don't like anyone older than 75. There comes a time in the life cycle when you get so old that you go right back to being an infant (diapers, soft food, etc). That's why I'm killing myself at 50.

kids love me, grab me by the arm, ignore other adults, and make me play with them. weird sometimes, like some of my friends kids want me to feed them too, even when their parents are right there. i even tried to scold one for a sec the other day for this, "ugh! Go ask your dad!" but she still likes me. i can't fool them

aww Helles, what a cutie!! Being the youngest in my family I never had much interaction with kiddies. Never did any of that babysitting stuff. But I was immensely flattered when one of my friends' cousins actually specifically requested me to babysit him a while back. First babysitting gig ever. We had a lot of fun together. It was him and his little brother. And they happened to be EA as well. I think he unconsciously at age four, felt we had a bond

i was youngest too, i don't know what these kids are thinking. and i never learn how to pick babies up right. i still get corrected. i'm not actually good with them, other than that they like me.

Haha, perhaps they feel a childhood bond with you -- being the youngest and all.
Yeah I don't think I *really* know how to "properly" hold a baby either yet. When they're still little enough that you have to support their neck lest they DIE --- it frightens me. Oh, the pressure.

lol yeah, the whole neck thing is crazy. my friend would dump her on me for ages when i'd visit her so she could go do stuff like take a shower.. and i'd keep repeating to myself "head up. keep head up" but now she's a bit older and alert she's tons more fun. although i woke up the next day afer holding her and my arm/shoulder was sore as anything. mammas end up with great toned arms!!
