I'm quite sure this has been mentioned a year or two ago but really the forums are dead, very few topics are posted compared to previous years and I believe it is no news to anyone that the large majority of them are not related to Eurasian identity or culture anymore.
Discussions on EAN used to be insightful, subversive and even hilarious, where did all the members go? Did they move on with their lives, are there rival boards they are active on ?
Shall someone enlighten me ?

EAN isn't dead. God is dead. That should explain everything. Actually, Tetra, your memory is longer than mine. Maybe you could explain?

It might be subjective but I really got the feeling that the boards have considerably changed the past 2 years or so. The quantity statement is pretty straighforward however concerning the quality of threads, if you want to see what I'm talking about, you should check out older posts from the 2003-06 era.
Maybe this should be moved elsewhere by the moderators.

A forum is active or slow based on user participation. You, "tetra", are averaging something like 2 posts a month. If EAN is dead, it's because you aren't pulling your weight. You have no right to complain if you are part of the problem.

to Putts : Hey, I don't see WHERE it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm just wondering why the community is shrinking in terms of contribution. I've been around since late 2003 but never registered at the time I was curious about my EA identity and since I was quite young I had nothing to add to the already numerous conversations.

Be careful Tetra, you risk angering the EA Gestapo. They too will come for you one day.

The atmosphere of this board has definitely changed a lot. Waaay back when I first signed up, (and mind you that I didn't stick around very long then, so my impressions are pretty superficial) it felt like it was singularly focused on issues related to EA-ness. Back then, I used to frequent hapas.com more, which felt a bit more "light". Over the years, the EAN boards seem to have broadened in scope and become more social, which makes sense- you can only say so much about the same issues over and over again. I like it this way, although it sucks that a lot of the more interesting users left/got banned/are inactive. We need new blood.

Gestapo's agents are good for finding problems, but not for solving them. That's why things got worse on this forum.

I think you can date the time of EANs death to April 2008 about the time I joined. Or do I always come to the party several YEARS too late?

Welcome back, betahat! I think haplotype saw your return and posted something about China hoping to get you in another peregrinating discussion.

It's fine saying that discussions about EA experience have dried up - and it does appear that way - but new members will want to discuss these things. I don't think that these things, having been discussed in the past, won't or shouldn't be resurrected. However, there does seem a kind of thorough liberalness to threads (for which I too am guilty) whereby controversial topics are beaten down by the liberal majority. It just means that discussions often do not get off the ground as the PC Police (political correctness) intimidate or ostracise new members, not allowing them the opportunity to explore ideas that older established members have talked about at length.
tetra's thread 'Over being EA' is representative of a notion that appears to be spreading through EAN that we have nothing left to discuss. I agree with Putts that it is our job to keep this place alive. Sure we need new blood, but it is also for current members not too rely on others to 'break the ice' but perhaps to be proactive, imaginitive and less judgemental in the the thing we wish to say and talk about.
What we need is a couple of odd balls!

The fact that fewer ppl are posting on this forum is also driving me away from this forum. Now, I am posting on other forums to fill the void left by EAN. The lack of posts means that fewer ppl would respond back to my posts, and that makes things less interesting. I like it when somebody almost instantly responds back to your post almost like MSN.
