My wife was looking over my shoulder as I was reading this thread and she said these were "jiao zi". Anyway I have nothing else to add to this thread, not having an Asian side (except for an old photo of my great great Grandmother on my father's side who looks very EA to me.) Except to say that although I think peoples' preferences for who they find themselves attracted to are personal and their own business, I continue to be dismayed at the number of outright bigoted and/or racist statements made by some here. At least these views seem to be in the minority. There were many thoughtful posts by EAN old-timers here in this interesting thread, but I thought one of best was by the newcomer Jenna. I would hope that our son will have views on his identity similar to hers: Well put Jenna! I'm glad you think that way Alex. On that note let me say that the food at the Vietnamese restaurants we went to in Philly last summer was definitely delicious! I wish we had restaurants like that here in Miami. Oh yeah, and Italian food is pretty good too!

I think the notion of being accepted into the "white community" just because your kid is half-white, is very flawed. Whites are very divided in this country over the issue of ethnicity, despite the one-sided show that the media puts on.

Roar that's a nice pic, it's tiny though. I don't think it's weird unless you lived somewhere where there were more EAs and Asians such as Asia. Compared to you I live in a hole and I still see a few EAs, most of them little kids. And theres definitely more where you live.

Well, I read this whole thread with a great interest and I appreciate the honest and candor responses. However, let me comment that it really irritates me whenever some Asian or Eurasian (usually a female) tries to use some lame excuse like, "I don't want to date an Asian/Eurasian because it will be like dating my own brother/sister/mother/father." And I'm, like, what the...? Has it occurred to you that most people date/marry within their own race, so they'll be guilty of the same "incestuous" relationship?

I agree with Pinoy Pom. Just before i went to this site, i emailed my sister that i didn't want her to entertain this filipino courting her. She asked me why...and i told her that i didn't want my nephew to look filipino. Damn, maybe that's really, really racist...okay, it is. But it's true - and furthermore, most filipino guys just like mestizas because they have white blood in them - for that fact only...lika trophy wife. As for me, i don't want to have a filipino son that has a russian last name...it's too weird. If you came to the philippines, most filipinos especially on friendster will always use foreigner pictures as their "My pics". And i ask my filipino friends about western vs. filipino - and they all agree that westerners look better than filipinos. Most filipinos find westerners to be better looking...talk about a repressed and screwed up culture. how can a people of a nation find foreigners to be better looking than them? Japanese for the most part prefer japanese, africans prefer africans, europeans prefer europeans, filipinos prefer NON-filipinos! Hence, the more un-filipino you look, the more handsome/beautiful you are to filipinos. Kant understand. But filipinos do prefer mestizo over white. I want a Europasian son. Or a eurasian son. And i'll have my daughter sold into slavery...hehehe. lol.. I can actually confirm that Filipinos find foreigners attractive. I really don't know why but many are really trying hard to look non-filipino, like using different cosmetics to make the skin lighter, or having a nose lift surgery to have a caucasian nose (mostly by filipino actresses) or dye the hair lighter. But I think it's amusing Since I am half filipina half german, I'm very often in the Philippines and people actually find me attractive there , I even receive many compliments that I'm pretty, and that I look like an actress..haha.. I think it's funny coz in Germany I'm just a normal average eurasian girl. And regarding the friendster thing, that filipino use foreign pics, well some do so because they don't have a scanner or a digi cam....hehe.. (this is true since I've got friends in this situation..hehehe) But yeah you're right, actually they could use filipino pics but as mentioned, they really seem to prefer caucasians over their own race.

I am not racist toward my asian side...I like this filipino boy a lot, but my asian mother only wants me dating white for some reason.

i find it hilarious when a person (me) ends up disliking another person for some reason (usually it's a "personality" issue) and the offended person cries "You must hate my entire Race, blah, blah, blah" and/or actually tries to create an image of such behaviour about that person (me again). I think it's happened twice to me online and pleny of times in Real Life. The resident trauma victim/psyche patient/drama major starts finger-pointing trying to gain even MORE sympathy than they've gathered in the previous year or two and away we go... I really don't have to like EVERY SINGLE member of another ethnic group. I really don't have to like EVERY SINGLE member of MY various ethnic groups (black, asian, white, native american). There are "cool people" and there are "village idiots" in every society. When i say or use the phrase "The White Man" to designate "the Powers that be/authority figures" it's from habit. My father says it in that manner and his father before him said it in that manner. Yeah, some stereotypes of Indians (Native Americans) and partial Indians are true, such as the usage of that phrase. I don't have to like OJ Simpson (Black) or Scott Peterson (White) either for obvious reasons, but it doesn't mean i hate their particular Race and/or ethnic grouping. about Asians: there are "cool" ones and there are ones i don't particularly care for, but it's on an INDIVIDUAL basis and not on a RACIAL/GROUP basis. I think that's being quite fair.

is that supposed to be funny? i guess so...it's what I say. so i dont know. I get so tired of hearing is "it cause im black?", cause when "they" (they-being ppl who use "Is it cause im black?") use it they just want to see your reaction and usually it's like, "oh no, no, thats not what i meant , im not racist!" so i just think, well what do u want me to say? yes? ok then "yes, yes it is. it's cause yer black." i like to watch they're expressions, but i dont meant it i've nvr gotten crap for it cause i make sure i say it and they kno it's jokingly..so yea...it wasnt suppose to be a joke.

If you are serious, do not feel the need to apologize. You haven't offended anyone, at least not me. However, i'm serious when i say i'll try your "approach" in the future. It does seem kinda funny to do...just to watch their reaction. Of course, i'll say i'm joking...after a moment of being serious that is Oh by the way, maybe alittle off topic but I noticed alot of woman here are saying that guys just want them for sex. Yes, I think most women have that experience. But ya know you can't blame the guy. Some guys just think with their penis. And ya know what they say... "why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free"? Hehe, my point is that if your wanting a lasting meaningful relationship, you might want to consider waiting to give up the goods "sex" until you both REALLY know eachother. And I'm just speaking from personal experience. Like when I met my hubby, we started out as friends for a long time. So we already know eachother completely before we decided to take the next step of dating. It was special when we first made love, no not "sex"... made love. There's a difference there. And ya know what, we waited even longer for that to happen, cause he wanted to wait. He's like " oh let's wait for while". Isn't that sweet . I think that's rare among men. When a guy cares about you for YOU and wants to actually know every single thing about you and for you to know everything about him, before being "intimate". Waiting is good. It's the best way to find out if someone is really sincere and cares for you. So yeah, he didn't want me to give up the goods (sex). And that made the moment even more special when it finally did happen. And heck yeah it was the best ever! good advice, especially in a world of sexually-transmitted diseases.
