I can finally contribute to this thread, as i tried korean food for the first time, whilst up in the gold coast. it was so good, i think i'm hooked on korean bbq. as for kim chi, it's good, but not great. i don't mind it really....

Nope. I can't eat anything I can't stand the smell of. So that's a no on anything pickled.
I lived with a bunch of Asian girls my senior year of college in an apartment. They all loved kimchee. However, they were very respectful of the fact that I didn't like the smell, so they kept it in a closed garbage bag in the fridge. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think they liked the smell either. Maybe that was it. Anyway, the arrangement worked for me.

the first time I saw kimchee I thought they were fermenting carrots...that was a year ago.. korean food for me is too salty and spicy maybe its an acquired taste.

Kimchi and rice for my supper tonight. How can you tell when kimchi goes bad? When it starts hanging out on street corners wearing short skirts. don't get that
