hapalicious, what are the pearls in your bubble tea made of? They look a little like sago balls. They probably taste better than they look I usually take the tea sans pearls as the latter is rather filling. Oooo, fusion desert. Gotta head down to 211 E. 43rd street. Thx for the tip nikki. Burbur cha cha, chendol, ice kachang, ching tng,........time to take an eating trip to Singapore. Actually, a lot of the deserts there have a lot of coconut milk....which is rather unhealthy. Oh well, gluttony isn't free.

Wow. You made your own homemade tapioca for the bubbletea?! Wasn't that a huge hassle?
I've never seen clear balls before, only the brown/black ones, but I assume that's just because they always add brown sugar at the places I go to.

when you buy them in the store, they come in alllll sortza colors, clear, rainbow-ish, and the standard black/brown. I think that the standard pearls are dark because you can see them better in drinks.

indonesian deserts roXors! I love agar-agar also Mmmm. Reminds me of my late grandmother. She made kickass agar agar. I'm not sure about the pearls in bubble tea. A bit too chewy and a hindrance. I always opt out and swap it for lychee or coconut jelly.

The only dessert asians (especially indonesians) are really good on: fruits. All the other things are mostly colorful, oversugared or simply no good taste...but it always will be better than english ones
