There's usually a big celebration type thing in China Town London but there'll probably be a stampede so I've decided on a mini-Asian themed house-party; Asian dress, food, alcohol etc. However, I know it's ONLY going to be me in a cheong-sam and some girls with the odd chopstick-through-bun thing. If anyone wishes me 'Happy C N Y' in 'Chinese' ie. ching, chong, chang and the like, I will slap them.
Oh yeah, we don't have the day off here either, luckily it's on the weekend. Is that party organised by a friend or is it a public event?? Sounds soo fun. I don't think the majority of London will realise its CNY until the karaoke begins..

You mean 'Gung hay fat choy', whats wrong with that? unless you mean imitation chinese. which it looks like you do. lol, I used to take the day off in high school, all the south asian holidays were days-off so they let it pass. (they have a lot more than us). Haven't got any plans this year, probably avoid china town, been b4, too crowded...etc EDIT typo

My Dad is flying over from Singapore to celebrate it with my mum, brother and myself . A bit crazy as he came for Christmas and left on New Year's day, oh well the more the better . My family will probably go to Newcastle's China Town in Stowell Street and have lunch/dinner in one of the restuarants. I'd rather go back to Singapore and celebrate as I've not seen my Singapore family for nearly 6 years

As for me, I'll be eating lots of Chinese food with family and friends, as well as attending a celebration with my university's Taiwanese association!

Hmm.. My relatives must be fairly rich compared to others receiving a specific amount of money in this thread . However last year it wasn't a good time as my Po po passed away because you don't celebrate CNY if a relative has passed away The sad thing was that I got an ang pow last year from my Chinese side of my family which I won't disclose but it's too much..
