OK, folks. I don't post much unless something gets me riled up or intensely intrigued. Neither of these happen too often, but in this case the latter applies and I'm just dying to share one of many fugues I've written. Don't listen if you can't stand the sound of a harpsichord: members.aol.com/stradivari1688/fuga-2-6-06.mp3

Hapalicious: beautiful voice! you sound honestly sad, though. But i suppose that's good for the song, bad for you.
Shah: Even if the fugue sucked, the fact that you went all out with the harpsichord is AWESOME. By the way... the song was really really good, too. I don't have a very good vocabulary for it, but i do dig the bassline a lot, especially in the last 1/3 or so.
more more more! great thread.

i think i've left too much cheese on the threads so here's something a bit louder/in your face www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyZQFnyHWC8the intro to Chopin's Polonaise Op 53 No 2.... yes, a Polish dance. lame songs for the recorder to come!! ;D Rob, you have wonderful hands! And this after 10+ yrs of not touching it? Don't ever stop playing again. My request: Anything Rachmaninoff - because I'm betting you've got the reach and feel for it. Can you dance the Polish dance?

It's considered the greatest piano concerto ever written. Selections from No.2, movements I and III (?). And I must say that I really enjoyed that. You should post the rest of the concerto - wow, I'm glad you didn't kill your hands learning Rach. I'll post some music when I've got something in a somewhat performance state. I don't think anyone should be subjected to hearing my sightread pieces It'll be between Chopin Opus. 69 No. 2 or the Valse BI 150 or another waltz (forgot the #). I don't know, which ever one I pathologize first. Oh my I hope I'm right about the Rach piece, I'm pretty sure it is...

Jenming: Thanks. I try. ;D Ajeno: It's actually just an mp3 of a MIDI score. A fellow "contrapuntist" has a program called Toccata that has samples of real 18th century keyboard instruments. This one was of a French harpsichord built around 1730. He ran my music through there and that's what came out. Rob: What can I say, I was a weird kid. You can hear some other stuff at www.voxsaeculorum.org.

Oh my I hope I'm right about the Rach piece, I'm pretty sure it is... you were bang on! don't second guess yourself! why would you say rach is hard on the hands? i find a mozart sonata way more difficult than a rach cadenza. fire and brimstone comes easy. it's those darn legatissimo/equal temperment sections..... argh!!!!! i think that's the mark of a really good pianist and i totally suck at those! looking forward to your chopin valse!! don't keep us waiting!!

I can't play a keyboard instrument. In fact, I've never heard anything I've written played live. In the case of that fugue, it's more a piece of abstract music than for any particular instrument. I'm not sure it would even be playable on a harpsichord or organ unless some serious editing were done. The actual score is on three lines.

Yeah, I think you're right but you need to be at least alright to start with, don't you? I don't think I'm even that good anymore. Just wondering. I'd love to be a great singer. Ok this post is for Zara When I auditioned for the musical "Atlantis" I had never had any vocal training and I didn't know if I was any good. I nearly died when I go the lead over far more experience girls. This is a recording of me and the rest of the cast at rehearsals on the first night media.putfile.com/Atlantis-Rehearsal-and this is a recording of me during the actual production media.putfile.com/Mr-RightI might post some more recent stuff later
