I'm curious to hear if any of you have experienced problems in the workplace, which you believe were racially motivated? I'd like to hear your stories. I have a lot of fire of my own to dish out here.

Maybe I'm not being fair, but when I read nasty comments from white-asian couples online, I will feel a personal anger towards my parents, even if they are not directly responsible for such sentiments. I would advise you to stay away from such heated online forums that you know might contain subjects related to race, other than ones like this. When you become engulfed in what is written online, you begin going into public assuming that all the actual, live people in front of you are thinking those thoughts. And then you will shrivel up or act weird in front of everyone. And they will respond negatively, which only validates all your thoughts. It's not good, and it's not accurate. Realize that the people who go onto online forums and blast disapproving thoughts like those are actually a small contingent of the general population. Hate to say it, but they're usually social rejects. If they were truly happy with themselves, they wouldn't care enough and take the time to single out ethnic group(s) and spend time pondering such silly hateful thoughts.

I think these kinds of eyelids makes it easier for people to tell that they're part Asian and not various other ethnicities like Hispanic, Middle Eastern etc. Generally, that's the case, but then again, many "Hispanics"/Latinos or other ethnicities are a mixture of prototypically Asian and, not surprisingly, there is no shortage of them with these kinds of eyelids. My fiance, for instance, has these kind of eyelids. He's 1/4 Native American, and the rest is European ethnicities(German, Polish, and English). Though his Native American background isn't Asian in the sense that we think of it, it's still prototypically Asiatic. He gets asked all the time if he's EA. And whatever children we have will likely have these same eyes too, as it is a very dominant trait in his family. His Native-American grandfather had them, his father has them, both he and his brother do, and both of his nieces have them even though they're white and fair-skinned/light-colored in every other way. My eyes are bigger and rounder than theirs, and I'm the more Asian one Agree. And I think face shape and nasal structure are more indicative of who's Asian than eyelids. I've seen plenty of black people and white people as well who have monolids but you still wouldn't think they're Asian. Many southeast Asians have double-lids and even bigger eyes than your average northern European, but you can still tell they're Asian (or at least not European) because of their noses, lips, and face shape. For me, the nose has always been the number one indicator of a person's racial background. Perhaps it's because it's at the center of the face and hence kinda anchors the rest of the face into shape. Though, I've mistaken a lot of southeast Asians for being black, because of their wider, flatter noses in conjunction with generally darker complexions and larger lips (in comparison with NE Asians) That guy in the last photo on the OP's first post would probably look like a 100% white dude with slanted eyes if his nostrils weren't as wide. His face shape and bone structure is definitely Caucasian.

Amerindians and Latinos with more Amerindian ancestry get mistaken for Asian all the time. It brings up the whole discussion about the Bering Strait theory, but I've found most Amerindians I know dislike that theory and don't want to be associated with Asians or Mongolian roots at all.

But, if you have kids with another multi-racial (Eurasian or Hispanic) person, even one that looks like he could be related to you, the chance for even more unusual combinations could arise. For example, one child could look considerably more Asian than either parent, another child would have no problem passing as Caucasian, and a 3rd might seem to inherit a bunch of things from prior generations and look like neither parent. I don't think that solves the problem either. If there were only some way to guarantee that they would look like their parents. If the other parent were full Asian, or full Caucasian, then some of them may be able to *pass* as monoracial or as a Eurasian who looks a little more Asian or Caucasian as the case may be. There are exceptions of course but in all likelihood, even with two Eurasian parents, the kids would look Hispanic. That is, considering both the Eurasian parents look kinda Hispanic themselves. Most mixed people, of any races, tend to pass as Hispanic since Latin Americans tend to be mixed themselves. There are exceptions, yeah. I wouldn't make a big deal outta having a child that doesn't look like me but most of all I try to avoid dating men who look extremely different from me because that is when the stereotypes kick in. Jon Gosselin's children look more Asian than he does and yet they are more white than him. So yeah, genetics doesn't always work how you'd think it does.

This is exactly why I mentioned before that I would like to have a Eurasian or Hispanic father my children. I don't want my kids to have to go through this. People see a set of parents who look totally different and the nasty stereotypes immediately start kicking in. For the longest time I avoided going out in public with both my Asian mother and white father at the same time because I was afraid of all the thoughts that were going on in people's minds. She must be a mail order bride. He must have been a loser who wanted a submissive wife. She must have been desperate to have white children. No one has ever said these things to my face but they are ideas that I know exist out there. I often hear similar comments about black men who marry white women. She must've been ugly and fat and couldn't get a white man and he's just happy to have a white girl.
At least when your child's father looks similar to you people don't assume stupid sh*t.

I was having a discussion about hair with my co-workers and two of them asked me if I'm half black. Initially, there is nothing wrong with that. But the reason they were asking is because my hair "looks very curly African." The thing is, I have naturally straight hair. I don't have a perm or anything I just had bad dye jobs. I think this is a signal that my hair is really overprocessed. Half black. Wow. That's literally a first for me.

Why is it that no one seems to be that shocked when an 85 year old man marries a 19 year old woman and surprise surprise, he dies of terminal orgasm a year later? When a younger man marries a woman who is old enough to be his grandmother, people often go nut and say it is dirty I think it's just because we've always been used to girls dating men slightly older than them, since girls supposedly mature faster than men. Plus, society expects women to marry men who will provide for them financially and an older man would be able to do that better than a younger man. A younger man with an older woman throws this paradigm off a bit. I've always been a little immature for my age and because of that, I usually end up with men a couple years younger. But I am now at the point, as a recent college grad, where it's awkward when approached by freshman guys (even though a lot of them are probably more mature than I). I'm not gonna lie, I do worry about what others think of me. And I feel kinda lame being a supposedly professional woman involved with a college guy. If a 26 year old business professional or something was dating a 20 year old college girl, people would think that's normal. They would probably just think she's gonna marry him and become a housewife. But for me to be dating a college boy, I think people would laugh.

Has anybody every gotten a facial before? I'm thinking of getting one to clear up my skin, but if it doesn't work I'm not gonna waste my money like that.
This is ridiculous. I'm 22 years old and I still have acne and oily ass skin just as bad as I did at 16. I'm too old for this sh*t.

We got an open jar of honey as a wedding gift. Regifting is one thing, but come on. Usually that's a sign that the person was trying to insult you or hint that they don't like you. Who was it from?

I've never filled out so many race boxes in my life as I have for job applications this fall. I refuse to fill them out if I can't check white and Asian. My favorite of all though are the British ones - they take their affirmative action seriously. "Two-spirited" is an option for sexuality and they want to know what "kind" of "white" you are, as if Irish and Scottish were different "kinds" of white. I'm surprised Jedi wasn't listed as a religion. I applied to a British company once and noticed one the part asking UK residents what race they were, there was no option for "Asian"..but there was "Chinese" listed next to African, European, Middle Eastern. So they really can't tell the difference between us after all, eh? Jeez, not even an "Oriental" or "Yellow" option. Not even "Slant-eyed devil." We're all just "Chinese."

Used perfume. I also used to get tons of blonde barbies from the white grandparents when I was little and when my mom finally told them I had enough blonde ones, they got me a black barbie.
